Mrs Nishimwe Immaculee is a Research Scientist in the Banana Program. She designs and evaluates experiments, maintains the banana germplasm, implements cost effective and environmentally friendly techniques to increase banana production, disseminates technologies and innovation to banana growers in order to increase sustainable production and value addition. She puts in place mechanisms for pest and disease control, collaborates with the private sector and banana commodity groups,
Previously, she was Research Assistant in the Biotechnology Program of RAB (2014 to 2018), working in plant tissue culture, taking part in plant diseases detection and characterization. Prior to this she served as Project technician of five projects and Project Manager of one Regional Project in Biotechnology.
She holds a Master’s degree in Genetics and Plant breeding from the University of Agriculture Sciences, Bangalore, India and an Engineering degree in Agriculture/crop production & Horticulture from the University of Rwanda.
